Santa Ana winds are offshore winds that blow from the interior desert and mountain regions of Southern California toward the Pacific coast. A late October clean achieves all of the following simultaneously: removes summer marine layer accumulation, clears tracks of fall leaf debris before the first winter rain seals it in, prepares glass and tracks for the Santa Ana season ahead, and does this before the December event cluster that historically delivers the most intense Santa Ana conditions of the year.
